Many of us have tried having a skincare routine however, it just seems not to work either because we are too busy for it or it’s just not working. Before you build a skincare routine, there are a couple of things you need to get right in order to achieve the best results.
And for those of us who are just extremely busy, it’s important to look for a less time-consuming skincare routine and also learn how to incorporate your routine in your activities.
For example, you can wear your mask as you prepare dinner, before your shower time, or scrub your body during your shower time. Beautiful skin requires effort and the correct products, it just doesn’t happen.
Also, as you go into creating one, it’s important to seek medical advice and use only the recommended products for your skin. A skincare routine starts with the simplest things, it doesn’t have to be time consuming or exhausting. It’s how you do the simple things that determine your skin health.
Here are a few tips on how to build a skincare routine.
Understand your skin type
It’s important to know where your skin falls in the spectrum. Is it normal, oily, dry or combination skin? There a couple of recommended ways that you can use to establish your skin type. Understanding your skin type helps you know how many times you need to have a spa day a week or what products to use for your specific skin type.
It all begins with knowing your skin. You can also have a dermatologist help you identify your skin type and also recommend the best products for you.
Have a spa day at least once a week
You could be busy but dedicating two hours a week to taking care of your skin is important. You can settle on the two days when you are least busy or when you can incorporate your skincare routine with your day’s activities and slot a skin spa day for just one hour for each of the two days.
Allocating time for your skincare routine is important as it helps you include it in your schedule and you won’t risk forgetting about it from time to time.

Moisturize
You can use your favorite moisturizer every morning after showering and after your evening shower. This will keep your skin hydrated and you won’t have to endure a dry flaky skin.
Ensure to use a moisturizer suited for your skin every time you wash your skin.
Sunscreen
It’s important to protect your skin from harmful UV rays by using sunscreens with at least spf if you live in extremely sunny or hot regions and make sure to apply it every time before you go outside.
Clean and exfoliate
Clean your face every morning and evening and remember to only use a cleanser recommended for your skin type when cleaning your skin.
Cleansing helps to deep cleanse the skin and eliminate any toxins in your pores. Exfoliating is also a form of deep skin cleansing but should be done once a week during your spa day as it can interfere with the balance in your skin, including skin pH.
Hydrate
Water is the basis for a healthy skin and for your skin to be glowing it has to get the nutrients it needs from the inside and also be able to cleanse itself from the inside.
Try and drink the recommended 8 glasses of water a day to help your skin eliminate all the toxins and be moisturized.
